Well it seems that my good intentions of keeping an up to date blog just never seem to come through. But more & more I look at this part of my life, with all my ranting & raving and see it as an opportunity....to possibly make a book out of all this mess. People on FaceBook tell me it's hilarious all the crap I see at the LIRR or in school, so I figured, why not do more with it than just this little ol' blog that hardly anyone reads?
I am attempting to collect 365 entries so that I can have something for every day of the year...let's hope i can keep at it!

so I have been slacking....here's what you missed!
Dear girl wrapped around the pole on the subway.......I don't know if you're channeling your past life as a stripper or if you're practicing for tonight, but don't wrap your entire body around a pole that others may need to hold onto. (I know maybe you need to rehearse and all, but c'mon I don't see anyone flashing dollar bills your way)
Then there's the guy who's sporting a eco-shirt with the words "Save Our Planet" across his chest, carrying a 'green' reusable tote that states the same on helping save the environment, and he's sitting there SMOKING...Umm last time I checked, cigarette smoke pollutes the air we breathe and I'm pretty sure those cigarette butts on the ground aren't helping Mother Earth out too much buddy......
And then finally, thank you Mr snot blower, hanky using, nasal mist sprayer guy....you let me taste your nasal spray today while waiting to get off the LIRR. There I am minding my own business, waiting to get off at the station, and then here you come moseying on up right next to me (every hear of personal space?) and you sound the fog horn as you blow your nose into a rather well used looking handkerchief.....at least you were covering your face...but THEN you whip out the nasal spray, give a few squirts into the air and then snort it....let me tell you, it doesn't taste very good!! You are yet just another fine example of the slobs I meet that have no respect for others.......

Doing your job...what a concept!
So what's with these LIRR employees? I get on the train this morning ($36 round trip I remind you) and there are three conductors and one engineer aboard the train. I make it through 2 stops, no one checks any tickets, I get through 2 more stops, no ticket checking yet! What the hell? So now it is time to switch trains (8 stops after I got on), as we pull into the station, people start to get up....guess who shows up? One of the conductors who is obviously pissed because he can't get through....hey it's not our problem buddy that you decided to wait until we are all about to get off to attempt to check tickets! He even makes the comment "Oh what are you all afraid you won't get a seat on the next train?" Well actually...YES...with the LIRR shortening trains and with people pushing others out of the way to get seats, you kind of have to be on your toes to get a seat....this guy is an IDIOT!
So now onto the next train......yet again, my ticket was not checked until we were pulling into our final stop, Penn Station. I mean SERIOUSLY, these LIRR employees seem to like to get paid for doing nothing! (isn't THAT wonderful!) And we have all heard in the news numerous times that there are some LIRR employees that are getting hundreds of thousands of dollars in overtime and pensions...wouldn't it be nice for them to WORK?!?!
Now normally I would be like "woo hoo, free ride!" but I purchased my expensive ticket already and had I known that they wouldn't be checking tickets til the last possible minute, I would have purchased a less expensive ticket from another station.
and I am not trashing ALL LIRR employees, because I have come in contact with many conductors who are happy to help and do their job well, its those bad, non-working morons that work there that make the headlines and make it worse for everyone else.

So I walk my dog, and Quincy is usually well behaved on these walks, but he IS a hyper puppy. When other people come by he gets very excited & when other dogs come by he can hardly contain himself. Also, Quincy gets distracted easily, so easily that the urge to relieve himself is overtaken by the urge to play. Even after that dog/person or whatever goes away, he just can't concentrate and all is lost (at least for that particular walk)
So MY question is......why is it that when I'm walking Quincy down the street that people always cross over to our side as they walk towards us? I try to do the opposite to spare people of dog slobber and to spare me the embarrassment of a possible humping dog. I just don't understand it. You don't know me, you don't know my dog, how do you know we're friendly???
it just boggles me.....

A Rant About Work
Since I won't be riding the LIRR for a month or so, I figured I can blog about the annoying people I meet while working at the pharmacy.....
For example, the people who abuse the church's good nature to help people in need....We have an agreement with the local church that they will send patients to us and they will pay for emergency prescriptions for them (for example, an antibiotic for someone who has no health insurance). Over the years, apparently every loser in town (and many from towns far far away) have discovered the church and are using it on a monthly basis to pay for their prescriptions. Month after moth, the same people are coming in...and the best part?? they have INSURANCE, they claim they can't afford the copays....I know PLENTY of UNINSURED people that would LOVE to be paying a copay rather than hundreds of dollars for their meds.
We even had one woman have the church pay for her diet pills!!!!!! Again, she had insurance, but she claimed she didn't think it was fair that they charged her a higher than normal copay, so she got the church to pay for it.....we soon put a stop to THAT!
Now today, we have a woman (again with insurance....GREAT insurance I might add) who had three meds called in.....one was a $60 copay but it was for a 3 month supply of a drug that would normally cost around $500 for someone without coverage...so she goes into her purse, and whips out a PILE of discount cards for various brand name medications (these cards are usually given out by doctors to patients that either don't have prescription coverage or their plan doesn't cover the specific drug) and she finds one for her meds. That brought the copay down to $45...still she wasn't happy....long story short 6 prescriptions, 3 discount cards and two phone calls later, she only wanted TWO of her meds....because the church would pay for $50, and those two added to around $44...... (on a side note, in order for her to have this great prescription coverage, she or her husband have to be working at a pretty decent job....so why are they abusing the church?)
THEN she has the nerve to ask me to ring her up for a few items and she hands me a church issued gift card from the store. For whatever reason, it wasn't swiping properly in the machine, so she digs in her purse only to come out with FIVE MORE gift cards!!!!!!
We have elderly patients who have no coverage (or crappy coverage) that are choosing to either pay for 5 days worth of heart pills or buy food, and they will not ask the church for help...but as usual the squeaky wheel gets the oil, so if you don't bitch & complain, you won't get help.....its just so sad
And I wonder.....do the church goers who donated money know where their donations are going to? Do they know that they are paying for able bodied, working people (with insurance) to get their meds for FREE??? AND to get free gift cards on top of THAT?!?!?!!?!!?!?
I honestly do not donate to the church for those very reasons. I like helping those in need, but repeated abuse of it makes me angry. When Mike & I do donate, we give to the food pantry.....I refuse to give cash.

Restart of my blogging....
I have been making random comments on Facebook for a while now and each time I do, people tell me I should blog about it, which I did do a few years back when I started THIS blog.....it didn't get much attention so I abandoned it for a while, but now I'm back!!!!!
Still commuting to John Jay College in NYC, BUT my commute is now two hours each way (Mike & I moved out to Remsenburg.....don't ask, its a small town out east that NO ONE has heard of!) So longer commute equals more pains in the ass on the LIRR!!!
Hope you enjoy this, pass it along and maybe you can spread the laughter.....
Dear Sayville Ferry riders that take the LIRR....
Do you need FIVE pieces of luggage when going away for the weekend? And if you do need them, please don't leave them in the aisle it's a hazard as well as a pain in the ass for fellow LIRR riders.
Another thing...if you can't decide where to park your ass & pile of baggage, don't stand there...you are a solid object & no one else can sit down until you move!
And NO we don't have time for you to have a cigarette....
